7 and 7 and 7 and 7 is 56

Using four 7s and any of the basic arithmetic operators (+, -, x, ÷) can you make 56?

7    7    7    7 = 56

I can't think of any other way:

(7/7+7)*7 = 56

This is not possible using ONLY the basic mathematical operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Roman's answer shows the solution, but this is only possible if the use of brackets is allowed.

7 x 7 + 7 + - 7 = 56

You are wrong. That is forty nine.

your idoits.7-7x7+7=56.

7+7-7x7+7=56

-_- o.O hmmm if only it was 3 7's then it would be 7x7+7=56

do u think they added a extra 7?

ooooo

i know the answer so dang easy and took some time

it

is

thats not correct, coz if there are no parenthesis then you have to multiply and divide first..so in 7 divided by 7 plus 7 times 7, we would have to divide and multiply BEFORE we add or subtract..it would become 1 plus 49 = 50. so the earlier post is incorrect!

poopie cuz i have an extra credit thing for school. and i have to get 56 using 4 7's.... no parenthesis

nihar--
answer is 7/7=1, 1+7=8, 8*7=56

Anonymous said...

7 divided by 7 = 1
1+7=8
8x7=56

Unknown said...

here's my answer for those who got it wrong

7*(7+(7/7))=56

It depends on how many processes we can use.

If we can go through one at a time, we can say.
7/7=1
1+7=8
8*7=56

4 7's and 3 processes.

This is just like the numbers round in countdown Countdown (UK gameshow).

They allow free use of brackets so I think answers to this should allow it, too.

7+(7/7)+(7x7)-7=
7 + 1 + 49 - 7 =
50

multiplicações e divisões primeiro, somas e subtrações depois.

7=7x7+7=56

I came up with this answer only because of the clues of somehow eliminating one seven without eliminating it from the equation.

7 x 7 7/7

7×7÷7+7×7= 56

The answer is clearly:
(7/7+7)x7 which equals 56
For people that have no clue what the slash represents:( it is an algebraic expression for division. Thanks for reading:)

Anonymous said...

That is definitly not true at all! Your not right because ... order of operations witch best describes that equals 50.

Anonymous said...

Um.. I wouldn't say so at all, that does not seem right to me. Could you justify your answer?

Anonymous said...

... can't now
Ask someone else:(

OMG FINALLY (7÷7+7)x7

7÷7 = 1,
1+7 = 8
Then do 8 x 7 = 56 :D

(7/7+7)x7

btw the / means "divided by"

The anwser is (7÷7+7)x7
Th brackets are important

so step 1
7÷7+1 = 8

step 2
8x7= 56
but with no bracket the times 7 again will just make it 50
