Still the same...

A reader asked the following puzzle:

"I have five letters. If you take the first and the last I will still be the same. Even if you take the middle letter I will be the same as before. What am I?"


Can you guess the correct answer?

"Empty". If you take the first and last letters, it's MPT, which sounded out is still the word. If you take the middle letter also, it's MT, which still sounds out to the word. Or at least that's the best I could come up with =)

it could be a letter box. no matter which of the 5 letters you take from it its still a letterbox.
